Greta

I was singing the word Greta in a dream. When I woke up I wrote this down.

Greta never met a girl that made her feel better
So she packed up a bag
Grabbed her favorite sweater
It was a long necked, over head, comfy like you’re in bed, fluffy yellow sweater that always made her feel better
So she looked up a Lyft for a ride to the center
Where her friend worked downtown helping folks who’ve been down
That’s the kind of girl that Greta thought could change the world
But the world better share ’cause her heart couldn’t bear the rejection, left in agony and deception
That’s the kind of girl that Greta thought could join her world
‘Cause the world’s turned scary, isolated and barely holding on to principles that rarely are challenged by the masses, but the masses aren’t fairly represented so we’re starting to unravel like her sweater with the long neck, over head, comfy like she’s in bed, fluffy yellow sweater that used to make her feel better

Just then, her friend (her name’s Gwen) sent her a message of an animated picture of a baby down in Texas, who was sitting on a fluffy yellow sweater with a litter of the fluffiest little kittens who were absolutely smitten, while the baby, sat and laughed, smiled and giggled, as Greta’s heart grew to extraordinary limits
That’s the kind of girl that Greta knew could change her world, and the world better know that her heart won’t let go, cause Greta never met a girl that made her feel better
So she hopped in the Lyft, took a trip to the center where the girl, Gwen, chipped in, practically lived in, helping overcome the many holes that they’ve tripped in
That’s the kind of girl that Greta knew could save the world, ’cause the world’s not scary, isolated and dreary
The world is full of sweaters that are tattered worn and weathered, but imperfect, and deserving of forgiveness when it trips in holes of weakness, or gets louder with extremists
The world is full of teachers and extraordinary people like Gwen

Greta never met a girl that made her feel better
So she packed up her things
Grabbed her favorite sweater
It was a long necked, over head, comfy like she’s in bed, fluffy yellow sweater that always made her feel better
